3. Install the drive.
Installing an NVMe drive
CAUTION:
To prevent improper cooling and thermal damage, do not operate the server unless all device bays are
populated with either a component or a blank.
The server supports installation of up to 20 NVMe drives, depending on the drive cage configuration. Observe
the following population guidelines:
Install a minimum of four NVMe drives in the eight-bay NVMe drive cage.
Two-drive configurations are supported in the following drive cages:
Six-bay HDD/two-bay NVMe (Premium) drive cage
Two-bay SFF (Premium) drive cage in the universal media bay
