Removal and replacement procedures 35
M.2 SSD module
WARNING: To reduce the risk of personal injury from hot surfaces, allow the drives, power
input modules, and the internal system components to cool before touching them.
CAUTION: To prevent damage to electrical components, take the appropriate anti-static
precautions before beginning any system installation. Improper grounding can cause
electrostatic discharge.
To remove the component:
1. Power down the server (on page 24).
2. Remove all power:
a. Disconnect each power cord from the power source.
b. Disconnect each power cord from the server.
3. Remove the access panel (on page 24).
4. If installed, remove any expansion board that blocks access to the SSD module.
5. Remove the SSD module.
To replace the component, reverse the removal procedure.
Optical drive
To remove the component:
1. Power down the server (on page 24).
2. Remove all power:
a. Disconnect each power cord from the power source.
b. Disconnect each power cord from the server.
3. Place the server on its side.
4. Remove the access panel (on page 24).
5. Remove the front bezel (on page 25).
6. If installed, remove the PCI air baffle (on page 25).
7. Remove the system air baffle (on page 26).
