18. Install the PCI blank retainer on page 58.
19. If the fan cage was removed, do the following:
a. Make sure that all the system cables that are routed through the front cable channel are properly
secured in the metal cable tabs. This is done to prevent system damage due to cables being
inadvertently caught under the fan cage.
b. Install the fan cage on page 55
20. Install the air baffle on page 51.
21. Install the access panel on page 49.
22. Do one of the following:
• Server in tower mode: Position the tower server for operation on page 42.
• Server in rack mode: Slide the server into the rack on page 47.
23. Connect all peripheral cables to the server.
24. Connect each power cord to the server.
25. Connect each power cord to the power source.
26. Power up the server on page 38.
27. Install the front bezel on page 40.

M.2 SSD enablement option
The server supports the installation of two M.2 SSD enablement boards. Each enablement board can support
two M.2 SSDs. The M.2 SSD enablement board is supported in the PCIe3 expansion slots 1–4.

• M.2 SSD – The SSD can either be preinstalled in the enablement board or sold separately.

Installing an M.2 SATA SSD
Prerequisites
Before you perform this procedure:
• Make sure that the fan cage is installed.
• Make sure you have the following items available:
◦ M.2 SSD enablement option
◦ M.2 SSD
◦ T-15 Torx screwdriver
◦ Phillips No. 1 screwdriver – This is required only if the M.2 SSD is not preinstalled on the enablement
board.
