System overview
A utility node (MTM 5149 - 23E) is capable of offering scalable performance (64 bit), high-bandwidth
memory design, and 16XPCIe bus implementation.
This document explains a single-socket EMS node and dual-socket protocol node. The EMS supports up
to 512 GB RDIMM, whereas the protocol node supports up to 1 TB RDIMM. The system is compatible with
the utility node storage platform.
The use of the terms “utility node” and “server” in the following information refer to the IBM Storage
ScaleSystem Utility Node.
