Note: The compute node is turned on as part of the recovery process.
v If this system is managed by an HMC, complete the following steps:
a. Log in to the HMC.
b. Click Systems Management > Servers.
c. If the compute node displays Failed Authentication in the Status column and Incorrect
password in the Reference code column, select the compute node and use the Update
Password task to enter the correct password for the USERID user ID. After you have entered a
correct password, the compute node displays Recovery in the Status column.
d. Recover the partition profile data. For instructions, see Correcting a Recovery state for a
managed system (http://pic.dhe.ibm.com/infocenter/powersys/v3r1m5/topic/p7eav/
aremanagedsystemstate_recovery.htm).
Note: The compute node is turned on as part of the recovery process.
v If this system is managed by an IVM, turn on the compute node, then restore the partition profile
data. Using the IVM command line, enter the rstprofdata command. For more information about
the rstprofdata command, see IVM rstprofdata command (http://www.ibm.com/support/
knowledgecenter/api/content/nl/en-us/POWER7/p7hcg/rstprofdata.htm).
29. Have the customer complete the following steps:
a. Access the ASMI. For information about how to access the ASMI, see Chapter 5, “Accessing the
service processor,” on page 33.
b. Click Power/Restart Control > Power On/Off System.
c. Change the Server firmware start policy setting to the value that was recorded in step 27 on page
88.
d. Click Save Settings and continue system server firmware boot.
30. Have the customer activate a VIOS partition by using one of the following methods:
v If this system is managed by an FSM, see Activating a virtual server (http://pic.dhe.ibm.com/
infocenter/flexsys/information/topic/com.ibm.acc.psm.resources.doc/vs/sdmc_vs-
activating_vs.html).
v If this system is managed by an HMC, see Activate (www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/
POWER7/p7ha1/smpactivate.htm).
v If this system is managed by an IVM, see Activating logical partitions (http://www.ibm.com/
support/knowledgecenter/POWER7/p7hch/iphchactivatelpar.htm).
Press 1 while the partition is being activated to enter the SMS menu. See Starting the SMS utility
(http://pic.dhe.ibm.com/infocenter/flexsys/information/topic/com.ibm.acc.7895.doc/
starting_sms.html). At the SMS main menu, click Select Boot Options and restore the boot device
order that is recorded in step 8 on page 86 of this procedure. Then, repeat this step for any
remaining VIOS partitions, if applicable.
31. Does the compute node have Fibre Channel adapters?
Yes Have the customer complete the steps in the “Restore vfchost map data” on page 493 topic.
Then, continue with the next step.
