5. Save the system identifiers.
Note: To complete this operation, your authority level must be administrator or authorized service
provider. For information about ASMI authority levels, see http://pic.dhe.ibm.com/infocenter/
powersys/v3r1m5/topic/p7hby/asmiauthority.htm.
a. In the ASM Welcome pane, if you have not already logged in, specify your user ID and
password, and click Log In.
b. In the navigation area, select System Configuration > Program Vital Product Data > System
Brand.
c. Manually record the value for the system brand, which will is displayed in the right pane.
d. In the navigation area, select System Configuration > Program Vital Product Data > System
Keywords.
e. Manually record the Machine type-model, System serial number, System unique ID values,
Reserved, and RB keyword0.
f. In the navigation area, select System Configuration > Program Vital Product Data > System
Enclosures.
g. In the right pane, select the Enclosure location: UXXXX.YYY.ZZZZ and click Continue.
h. Manually record the values of Enclosure location, Feature Code/Sequence Number, Enclosure
serial number, and Reserved.
6. Turn off the compute node and remove the compute node from the IBM Flex System Enterprise
Chassis. See “Removing the compute node from an IBM Flex System Enterprise Chassis” on page 37.
7. Carefully lay the compute node on a flat, static-protective surface, with the cover side up.
8. Open and remove the compute node cover. See “Removing the compute node cover” on page 39.
9. If an I/O expansion card is in the first slot, remove it to access the management card.
Note: You can use the system-board LEDs and the service label that is located on the inside of the
cover to identify the management card that must be replaced. See “System-board LEDs” on page 17.
10. Grasp the management card and pull it vertically out of the unit to disengage the connectors.
