Increasing Memory Capacity
6-8 IBM ThinkPad 310E/310ED: User’s Guide
Increasing Memory Capacity
Increasing memory capacity is an effective way to make programs
run faster. You can increase the amount of memory in your
computer by installing a memory option, called dual inline memory
module or DIMM, to increase your computer’s memory.
Important!
Attention:
To avoid damaging the DIMM, do not
touch the contact edge of the DIMM.
Changing memory while your computer is in hibernation mode
may cause permanent damage to the equipment.
Installing a DIMM
To install the new DIMM, do the following:
1 Turn the power off.
2 Disconnect all cables and other devices, including the AC
adapter.
3 Take out the battery pack, if it is installed.
4 Turn the computer over on its base.
5 Remove the screw that holds the memory door in place.
Then remove the memory door .
