4. Safety Tips - General
1. Prior to “starting” equipment, make sure that all personnel are clear of
equipment and that all foreign objects and tools have been removed.
2. All guards shall be in place before operating equipment. SEE PAR. 3 -
SAFETY SYMBOLS.
3. All starting and stopping devices must be clearly marked. SEE PAR. 3 -
SAFETY SYMBOLS. The area around these devices shall be kept free of
obstructions and permit ready access to them and a clear view of them at all
times.
4. The area around all loading and unloading points on equipment must be kept
free of obstructions to permit ready access to them and a clear view of them at
all times.
5. No “riding” shall be permitted on any equipment.
6. No overload or safety device shall be removed from the equipment. Provisions
should be made to prevent anyone, except a competent authorized person, from
adjusting safety devices.
7. At no time shall any equipment be used for a purpose beyond its design
limitations.
8. Good housekeeping shall be maintained at all times.
