4.15 POSITIONING THE UNIT IN A RIGID CLIMATE.
To operate the appliance in low temperature outside
environmental conditions, follow the instructions
below.
- To avoid exposure to wind, install the unit with the intake side
facing the wall.
- Do not install the unit in a place where the intake side can be
directly exposed to the wind.
- To avoid exposure to the wind, install a deector on the air
exhaust side of the unit.
- In areas subject to heavy snowfalls, it is very important to choose
an installation site where snow does not aect the unit. If blow-
ing lateral snowfalls are possible, check that the coil of the heat
exchanger is not aected by the snow (if necessary, build a side
snow cover, see gure 19):
- Install the unit high enough above the ground so that it cannot
be buried in the snow.
- e fan inside the outdoor unit runs regularly, as established,
to prevent snow from building up inside the outdoor unit (see
Snow accumulation prevention control page 46).
- e outdoor unit must be installed considering the direction of
strong winds. ese can turn the unit. erefore the side of the
unit, and not the front, should face the wind (see gures 20 and
21).
