3. Designated use and function.
3.3 Function of the woodchipper
3.3.1 Feeding
The material gets fed into the infeed chute by hand or crane (according to the machine
specifications).
Danger!
Always observe the safety advices when feeding the machine. There is a danger for
life when persons get pulled in by brush wood or other objects.
3.3.2 Infeed of the material
When the material gets in the feed rolls it gets pulled in by them and it is automatically
fed into the cutting tools.
Machines that were designed for crane use normally have an in-feed conveyer. This
in-feed conveyer supports the transport of the material to the feed rolls.
Danger of injury!
It is possible that the material does sudden moves when it is getting pulled in. Feed in
the material in a way that these movements cannot cause injuries. Stay away from
moving parts of the infeed when feeding in material. Never touch moving parts of the
machine!
3.3.3 Material accumulation
In case of material accumulation reverse the infeed to remove the accumulation.
Afterwards forward again. If this method does not work the material needs to be taken
out of the infeed chute. If necessary infeed the material separately or matched.
Danger of injury!
Watch out when reversing the infeed because of the outgoing material. Stay clear of
the area where the material can get when being reversed.
Stay clear of the moving machine parts when taking the material out of the infeed! If it
is necessary, turn off the machine and wait for its total stand still before grabbing into
the danger area of the machine!
