Faultfinding instructions
12.2 Troubleshooting
The tables below cover the most common problems. For detailed troubleshooting of the refrigera-
tion plant, please refer to the manual of the plant or common refrigeration literature.
Refrigeration plant, general issues
Symptom
Probable cause Solution
Suction pressure
(excessively low)
Refrigeration load lower than com-
pressor capacity.
Reduce compressor capacity.
High suction line loss. Check valves, strainers, etc.
Malfunction of evaporator.
Check evaporator (fouling, accumu-
lated oil, etc.), liquid expansion
valve system, filter in liquid line, re-
frigerant charge (insufficient).
Discharge pressure
(excessively high)
Safety cut-out set too low.
Check the setting of alarms and
warnings (control system) and the
separate safety pressure cut-out.
High discharge line loss. Check the valves, check valve, etc.
Malfunctioning of condenser.
Check condenser, liquid drain from
condenser, refrigerant charge (too
much), water/air inlet temperature
(too high), water/air flow (too low).
Air/non-condensable gasses in the
system.
Purge the air from the condenser
side.
