AIS(Automatic Identification System)
Equipment that transmits a ship's Maritime Mobile
Service Identity number, ship name, ship position,
speed, orientation, and other information to and
from other ships. AIS equipment is required on
some ships by the International Convention for
the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS)
ATIS

This is used for notification of the radio station ID
to receivers when using European inland
waterway (IWW) channels.

SQL(Squelch)
A function that acts to suppress the audio
output of a receiver in the absence of a
sufficient radio strength signal.
Station
A radio station, or a control terminal for radio
equipment
