you have a replacement power supply ready: the power supplies must be installed in the PTX1000 to
ensure proper airflow.
CAUTION: Replace a failed power supply with a new power supply within 30
seconds of removal to prevent overheating of the chassis.

Connecting DC Power to the PTX1000
WARNING: DC-powered PTX1000 models are intended for installation only in a
restricted-access location.
Before you begin connecting DC power to the PTX1000:
Read “PTX1000 DC Power Electrical Safety Guidelines” on page 164, and the following warnings:
DC Power Copper Conductors Warning on page 165
DC Power Disconnection Warning on page 166
DC Power Grounding Requirements and Warning on page 168
DC Power Wiring Sequence Warning on page 170
DC Power Wiring Terminations Warning on page 173
Ensure that you have taken the necessary precautions to prevent electrostatic discharge (ESD) damage
(see “Prevention of Electrostatic Discharge Damage” on page 161).
Ensure that you have connected the PTX1000 chassis to earth ground.
CAUTION: Before you connect power to the PTX1000, a licensed electrician must
attach a cable lug to the grounding and power cables that you supply. A cable with
an incorrectly attached lug can damage the router (for example, by causing a short
circuit).
