NOTE: The PTX1000 powers on as soon as power is provided to the power supply. There
is no power switch on the router.
8. Verify that the status LEDs on each power supply are lit green.
If the status LED is lit amber, remove power from the power supply, and replace the power supply (see
“Removing a Power Supply from the PTX1000” on page 101). Do not remove the power supply until
you have a replacement power supply ready: the power supplies must be installed in the PTX1000 to
ensure proper airflow.
CAUTION: Replace a failed power supply with a new power supply within 30
seconds of removal to prevent chassis overheating.

You can monitor and manage the PTX1000 by using a dedicated management channel. The PTX1000 has
two management ports—a 10/100/1000BASE-T RJ-45 port for copper connections and a Gigabit Ethernet
SFP port for fiber-optic connections. Use the management ports to connect the PTX1000 to a network
for out-of-band management.
