Starting with a cold engine
1 Open the fuel tap 1.
2 Switch on the ignition (ignition key

3 Put the transmission in neutral (green indicator lamp N

PISTON WARMS UP AND EXPANDS FASTER THAN THE WATER

LWAYS RUN THE ENGINE UP OR ALLOW IT TO RUN WARM WHILE DRIVING WITH A
LOW LOAD

IF THE ENGINE DOES NOT START WHEN YOU PRESS THE STARTER
PUSHBUTTON, CHECK WHETHER:
– the transmission is in neutral
– the ignition is switched on
– the emergency off switch is switched on
– the headlight lamp lights up (ignition key in the position)
– If not, the battery is run down
– If so, proceed as described in the chapter "Troubleshooting" or visit an
authorized KTM workshop.
IF THE ENGINE STARTS BUT DOES NOT SWITCH ON WHEN YOU PRESS
THE STARTER PUSHBUTTON, CHECK WHETHER:
– the fuel tap is open
– you actuated the choke lever
– there is enough fuel in the tank
– If not, refuel
– If so, proceed as described in the chapter "Troubleshooting" or visit an
authorized KTM workshop
NOTE:
This motorcycle is equipped with a back-up starter system. The engine can
only be started with the transmission in idle or with the clutch lever pulled.
Starting with a warm or hot engine
1 Open the fuel tap 1.

Starting the engine with the kickstarter
Pull the motorcycle off the stand and press the kickstarter all the way down.

THE ENGINE
. YOUR FOOT COULD SLIP OFF THE KICKSTARTER OR THE ENGINE COULD

ICKSTARTING WITH TOO LITTLE FORCE OR WITH THE THROTTLE OPEN WILL INCREASE

F STARTING AT TEMPERATURES UNDER ZERO, MAKE SURE THE KICKSTARTER IS ENGA-

Starting with a flooded engine
Completely open the throttle when starting. Replace the spark plug if necessary.
