Checking the rear brake fluid level
The reservoir for the rear disk brake is located above the brake master cylin-
der. The brake fluid level should not drop below the "MlN" mark when the
motorcycle is parked in a vertical position.

F THE BRAKE FLUID LEVEL DROPS BELOW THE MINIMUM AMOUNT THIS WILL INDICATE A
LEAK IN THE BRAKE SYSTEM OR COMPLETELY WORN BRAKE PADS

Refilling the rear brake fluid *
Add brake fluid as soon as the brake fluid level reaches the "MIN" mark.
For better access to the brake fluid reservoir, remove the HH screw
1 and
draw out the reservoir as illustrated. Remove the threaded plug
2 and rub-
ber boot
3 and add DOT 5.1/DOT 4 brake fluid up to the "MAX" mark.
Mount the rubber boot and threaded plug. Wipe off any overflowing or
spilled brake fluid with water. Screw the brake fluid reservoir back on the
frame and run the connecting hose without kinks.

– NEVER
USE DOT 5 BRAKE FLUID. IT IS BASED ON SILICONE OIL AND HAS A PURPLE
COLOR
. THE GASKETS AND BRAKE HOSES ARE NOT DESIGNED FOR THIS TYPE OF BRAKE
FLUID

Checking the rear brake pads
The brake pads can be seen from the rear. The lining thickness should not
be less than 1 mm.

HE LINING ON THE BRAKE PADS MAY NOT BE LESS THAN 1 MM THICK AT THE WEAKEST
POINT
1, OTHERWISE THE BRAKES MAY FAIL. FOR YOUR OWN SAFETY, HAVE THE BRAKE
PADS REPLACED IN TIME

IF THE BRAKE PADS ARE REPLACED TOO LATE WHEN THE LINING IS PARTLY OR COMPLE-
TELY WORN OFF
, THE STEEL PARTS ON THE BRAKE PADS WILL GRIND AGAINST THE BRAKE
DISKS
. THIS SIGNIFICANTLY DECREASES THE BRAKING EFFECT AND WILL DESTROY THE
BRAKE DISKS
