5 ADJUSTMENT OF POLYMAT FOR
OPERATION
5.1 Adjustment of markers
5.1.1 Adjustment of marker length
The markers mark out the centre of the following working
pass (fig. 15).
Marker length to be adjusted as follows.
- Determine the distance M as follows.
M = ½(W+R)
M = distance between the tracks of the outer coulter
and the marker disc
W = working width
R = coulter distance
Example:
POLYMAT 300W, 24 coulters (R=12,5 cm)
M = ½(300+12,5)=156,25 cm
- Adjust the marker length in such a way that the (centre of
the) marker disc track is situated at the distance M from the
outer coulter.
If the coulters are shut off alternately by means of a
distributor cover, the distance M should be calculated as
follows:

= ½(W+R) + R = distance between the tracks of the open
outer coulter and the marker disc

= ½(W+R) - R = distance between the tracks of the closed
outer coulter and the marker disc.
5.1.2 Adjustment of marker discs
The intensity of marking by the marker disc is related to the
angle to which the disc works (fig. 16).
On light soil types a prominent angle (A) will generally result
in a clearly visible track.
On harder types of soil, a sharper angle (B) is recommended.
- Untighten the securing bolt and twist the bent shaft of the
marker disc in order to adjust the angle position of the disc.
