Install an M.2 boot drive
Follow instructions in this section to install an M.2 boot drive to the I/O module board.
About this task
To avoid potential danger, make sure to read and follow the safety information.

CAUTION:
The power-control button on the device and the power switch on the power supply do not turn off
the electrical current supplied to the device. The device also might have more than one power cord.
To remove all electrical current from the device, ensure that all power cords are disconnected from
the power source.
Attention:
• Read “Installation Guidelines” on page 37 and “Safety inspection checklist” on page 38 to make sure that
you work safely.
• Touch the static-protective package that contains the component to any unpainted metal surface on the
node; then, remove it from the package and place it on a static-protective surface.
Notes:
• Depending on the specific configuration, the I/O module board might look different from the illustrations in
this section.
Procedure
Step 1. Make preparations for this task.
a. Locate the slots for M.2 boot drives.
Attention: If there is only one M.2 boot drive to be installed to the I/O module board, the M.2
drive should be installed in slot 1.
