For Parallel, RS-422, and RS-232 cables
AutoGap When AutoGap is set to On (default), the printer automatically
adjusts to the thickness of the paper you are using.

When the interface option is set to “Auto,” the printer knows
which interface is active, parallel or serial. You do not need to
change menu items from the operator panel, and you can
effortlessly share your printer among multiple environments.
