C.ll HYDROSTATIC STEERING
INTRODUCTION
The
hydrostatic
steering system
consist
of
an
oil
reservoir (Item
14,
Fig. C.ll/1),
with
built-in filter, a
hydraulic pump,
with
built-in pressure relief
valve
(6),
hydraulic
cylinder
(5)
and steering unit
(11).
Oil pipes and hoses
connect
the steering
and pump
to
the cylinder.

OPERATION
The steering
unit
consists
of
the rotary-type
distributor
(Item 13, Fig. C.ll/2) and the metering
gear set
(14),
fitted
on the same shaft and steer-
ing wheel-controlled. The
control
from the steer-
ing wheel
is
transmitted
to
the rotary
distributor
spool and
metering
gear set.
The hydraulic
pump
(4)
supplies
the steering
unit
with
oil
under pressure,
through
the union
"P".
The metering gear set
(14)
regulates the
quantity
of
oil
supplied
by the rotary
distributor
to
the
hydraulic ram and insures a turn proportional
