A26M-R Transmission/Transaxle
Construction
• The A26M-R manual transaxle is a three-shaft design; one primary (input) shaft and two
secondary (output) shafts.
• The three-shaft design allows for a more compact construction due to the fact that each
output shaft needs only to carry three or four gears, so can thus be made shorter.
• As a result of the three shaft construction there are two different final gear ratios
possible; one for the first to fourth gears and another one for the fifth, sixth and reverse
gears.
• A triple synchronizer mechanism has been used for first, second, and third gears. The
fourth gear has a double synchronizer mechanism.
