4.3 Principle of the SPS-Solvent Purification
The purification of solvents is carried out by feeding solvents from a solvent reservoir into the
purification columns of the SPS-systems. Therein oxygen and humidity can be filtered out -
depending on the filling of the column. The purified solvents can be extracted at the external
tapping point of the working station or at the tapping point within the Glovebox.
The procedure is done by filling nitrogen gas into the solvent reservoir, thereby pressurizing the
system and initiating a valve controlled passage of the solvent through the system.
The valve controlling is partial pre-adjusted, respectively can be performed manually by
hand valves (SPS 800 Manual and SPS Compact) or is automatically operated via operation panel
(SPS 800 Automatic).
All exhausts must be connected to an in-house exhaust of the customer (including two outlets
(NW75) and the exhaust of the vacuum pump).
The principle of solvent purification is shown by the example of the SPS compact, designed for
purification of one solvent.
