7.4. Appendix D. Cables and clamps
Appendix D: FRAX cables
and clamps
The FRAX clamps and cables are field tested, rugged
accessories ensuring repeatable and accurate meas-
urements. Coaxial cables are covered with an extra
protective cover and strain relief is fitted on all 9 and
18 meter cables to ensure a long and trouble free life
of service.
Ground braids made of tin plated copper to ensure
good contact, make them easy to work with and
increase life of service compared to e.g. aluminium.
The FRAX clamps handles both round and flat connec-
tors. Easy to attach and a firm grip avoids any risk of
clamps falling off.
The C-clamp is used to connect the FRAX to the bush-
ing. All necessary connectors (BNC, braid, ground, ca-
ble strain relief) are included in one clamp. The smaller
G-clamp is used to connect the braids to ground. Both
models are part of the standard cable set delivered
with a FRAX.
Bushing connection
The C-clamp can be fastened on any type of bushing
up to Ø 90 mm. The M12 screw ensures good electri-
cal and mechanical contact. No risk of a clamp falling
down due to heavy cables and braids.
The clamp is delivered with
a M12 hat nut, which can
be used when you want
to avoid the screw making
marks on a sensitive surface.

Ground braid
connected to ground. Keep
the braid straight along
the bushing and ground
the braid at the base of
the bushing. Ensure good
connection.
The first 50 cm of the braid
is insulated to avoid any
electric connection to the
bushing.
