      If the USB-to-serial adapter is not showing as an option in the communication port dropdown for your METER Measuring Instruments, check that the device driver is properly installed. Try reinstalling the METER driver by downloading it and running the installer. Also, ensure the appropriate device driver is installed for third-party USB-to-serial adapter cables.

      If the 'Initial conductance is too high' message persists on your METER Measuring Instruments, close the leaf clip and shake the sensor head briskly in a vertical orientation to equilibrate. Also, check the integrity of the round rubber seal that caps the measurement chamber, as an air leak may have developed. Test for leaks by placing fresh desiccant in the desiccant chamber and leaving the sensor head undisturbed for 2–3 days. Use the diagnostics screen to check the RH of the unopened sensor head. If the RH is >10%, there is a leak.

      A noisy serial connection can disrupt the connection between the Leaf Porometer Utility and the SC-1, causing data download interruptions. To resolve this, change the Leaf Porometer Utility Communication preferences by going to Edit > Preferences, selecting the Communication tab, and decreasing the Maximum Baud Rate value or increasing the Command Retries value. Click Close to save the changes.

      If the conductance readings on your METER Measuring Instruments are not what you expected, verify porometer accuracy. You can also recalibrate the sensor head, and clean the sensor head. If the Tefol n filter is wet or dirty, replace the filter.

      A 'Firmware is corrupted!' error on your METER Measuring Instruments may occur if the firmware was not loaded properly or an update is needed. Before reloading the new firmware, download any data. Check metergroup.com/sc1-support for a new firmware version.
