T urnofftheignitionswitchandswitchoffALLelectrical
equipmentofBOTHvehicles,thenfollowtheinstructions
below:
1Connectaboostercablebetweenthepositive(+)
terminalsofbothbatteries.Connectanotherbooster
cablefromthenegativeterminalofthedonorbattery
(A)toagoodearthpoint(anenginemountingor
otherunpaintedsurface,forexample),atleast0.5m
fromthebatteryofthedisabledvehicle(B).
2Ensurethatthecablesareclearofmovingpartsof
bothengines,thenstarttheengineofthedonor
vehicleandallowittoidleforafewminutes.
3Nowstarttheengineofthevehiclewiththe
dischargedbattery(DONOTcranktheenginefor
morethan10seconds).Ifthedisabledvehiclewill
notstartafterseveralattempts,itmayneedtobe
repaired.PleasecontacttheMGAuthorisedRepairer
foranoverhaul.
4Afterboththevehicleshavenormallystarted,allow
theengineofthedisabledvehicletoidleformore
than2minutesbeforeshuttingdowntheengineofthe
donorvehicleanddisconnectingtheboostercables.
IMPORTANT
NEVERturnonanyelectricalequipmentonthe
disabledvehiclebeforeremovingthebooster
cables.
5Disconnectingtheboostercables.Disconnecting
theboostercablesmustbeanexactreversalofthe
procedureusedtoconnectthem,i.e.disconnectthe
BLACKnegativecablefromtheearthpointonthe
disabledvehicleFIRST .
