Themessage‘FullyPressClutch’willappearintheMessage
Centre,whenattemptingtostarttheenginewhenthe
clutchpedalisnotpressed.
Inthecaseofafaultwiththeclutchpedalswitch,the
brakepedalmustbepressedinsteadandawarningisgiven.
Themessage‘PressBrakePedal’willappearintheMessage
Centre.Followtheinstructionandthecarshouldstart.
Handsetremoved
•Steeringislocked.
•Sidelightsandhazardwarninglightswilloperate.
Note:Toremovethehandsetwhentheengineis
running,rstpresstoposition3tostoptheengine,
thenpullthehandsettoturntheignitionoffand
removethehandsetfromthedockingstation.
IMPORTANT
Donotpullthehandsetoutdirectlyfromthedocking
station;thiswilldamagetheignitionswitchandcause
theenginetobedisabled.
StartingtheEngine
NEVERstartorleavetheenginerunningin
anunventilatedbuilding-exhaustgasesare
poisonousandcontaincarbonmonoxide,
whichcancauseunconsciousnessandmay
evenbefatal.
Dieselparticulatelterscanbedamagedif
thewrongfuelisused,orifanenginemisre
occurs.Beforestartingtheengine,you
shouldbeawareoftheprecautionsdetailed
underthesection‘DieselParticulateFilters’.
StartingtheEngine
1Switchoffallunnecessaryelectricalequipment
(includingtheairconditioning).
2Checkthatparkingbrakeisfullyapplied(see‘Brake
System’inthischapter).
3Ensureneutralisselectedandtheclutchpedalisfully
pressed.
