Note:DONOTchargethebatteryifitissuspectedof
beingfrozen.
Asthebatteryages,itmaynotretainitschargeas
effectivelyaswhenitwasnew.Carsthatareused
infrequently,orareusedexcessivelyforshortjourney
motoring,oroperationincoldclimates,mayneedthe
batterytobechargedregularly.
PreChargingBatteryAppearanceCheck： ：

•Iftheshellisbrokenorthereisaleak,DONOTcharge
thebatteryandreplaceitafterndingthereason.
•Iftheterminalisbroken,DONOTchargethebattery
andreplaceitafterndingthereason.
•DONOTattempttochargea‘bulging'or‘distorted'
battery.
•Priortochargingensureterminalsarefreefrom
corrosion,applypetroleumjellytoterminaltohelp
preventcorrosion.
ChargingNotes:
•Alwayswearsafetyglasseswhenconnectingor
disconnectingabatterycharger.
•Alwaysensuretheretheareaiswellventilated.Ensure
thechargingbatteryhasadequatespaceanddoesnot
‘over-heat'.
•DONOTsmokeinthevicinityofachargingbattery,
andensuresparksandnakedlightsarekeptwellaway
fromtheenginecompartment.
•Beforecharging,connectthepositivecableatrst.
Aftercharging,disconnectthenegativecableatrst.

Note:Whenchargingoremergencystartingalways
ensurethenegativeleadhasagoodconnectiontoa
bodyearthawayfromthebattery(referstothesection
‘EmergencyStarting’inthe‘EmergencyInformation’
Chapter).
•Ifchargingthebatterywhilstonthevehicle,please
connectthebatterychargernegativeleadtothevehicle
bodyensuringagoodconnection.
•Ensureallterminalsarefreefromcorrosion.
