Foraddedsafety,thehydraulicbrakingsystemoperates
throughdualcircuits.Ifonecircuitshouldfail,theother
willcontinuetofunction,butgreaterpedalpressurewill
beneeded,andincreasedbrakepedaltravel,andlonger
stoppingdistanceswillbeexperienced.Intheeventof
abrakefailurewhereonlyonecircuitisoperational,
thecarshouldbebroughttoahaltassoonastrafc
conditionssafelyallow.DONOTcontinuedriving-seek
MGAuthorisedRepairer.
ServoAssistance
Thebrakingsystemisservoassisted,alwaysbeawareof
thefollowing:
•Neverallowthecartofreewheelwiththeengineturned
off.
•Alwaystakeparticularcarewhenbeingtowedwiththe
engineturnedoff.
•Iftheengineshouldstopforanyreasonwhiledriving,
bringthecartoahaltasquicklyastrafcconditions
safelyallow,anddonotpumpthebrakepedalasthe
brakingsystemwillloseanyremainingservoassistance.
•Oncetheenginehasstoppeditwillloseanyremaining
servoassistance,usesuitableforcetoapplythebrake
pedaltostopthecarsafelyinthecurrenttrafc
conditions.ContactanMGAuthorisedRepairer.
•Efciencyofthebrakeservoboostercanbeaffected
bynumerousconditions,suchasenginespeedloss.
Theseconditionscouldresultinextraforcerequired
tooperatethebrakepedaltostopthecar .
WetConditions
Drivingthroughwaterorheavyrainmayadverselyaffect
brakingefciency.TheSCS(StabilityControlSystem)
includesaBrakeDiscWipingfunctionwhichisactivated
whenthewindscreenwipersareused.However,always
keepasafedistancefromothervehiclesandintermittently
applythebrakepedalinconditionswherethewipersare
notused.
