3. SETTING UP
3.1.4 Installing conditions
When installing this instrument exercise care for the following environment conditions of
the installation site.
Item Description
Vibration
Install this instrument if possible in a place where it will not be subject to vibration.
If this instrument is used for a long period of time in an environment where there are
significant vibrations, the precision parts in this instrument may be adversely affected,
resulting in the deterioration of measuring accuracy.
If this instrument has to be used in an environment where vibration is significant, take
measures such as laying a vibration damping rubber pad under the instrument to reduce the
effect of vibration.
Air blow
Avoid installing this instrument in a place where it is exposed to direct air blow from a blower
or an air conditioner.
Dust Install this instrument in a place with as little dust as possible.
Light
Direct illumination of the external light to the display unit may disturb you to view display
contents clearly.
Avoid installing this instrument in a place where the room light is reflected on the display unit
or where the display unit faces a window.
If this instrument is subjected to direct sunlight, the heat may deform the instrument and
adversely affect the measuring accuracy.
If this instrument must be placed by a window where it will be subjected to direct sunlight,
protect the instrument by shading it with a curtain, etc.
Temperature
The accuracy of this instrument is guaranteed within the room temperature range of 20 ± 1°C.
If measurement that requires a high accuracy is performed at a room temperature other than
specified, it is recommended that a workpiece be measured in comparison with a gauge
block.
Power supply
The VL-50 series can operate on a power supply between 85 and 264VAC through the AC
adapter. However, this series should be used within the fluctuation of a rated power voltage ±
10%. If the power voltage fluctuates abruptly, a voltage regulator may be required.
Grounding To operate this instrument properly, be sure to ground the GND terminal on the rear panel.
