Sending an Emergency Alarm with Emergency Call
138
This feature gives your radio priority access on a
channel for conventional system, and to a talkgroup
for trunking system.
If the radio has both emergency call and alarm
features enabled, it automatically proceeds to the
call mode after the alarm is acknowledged.
Procedure:
1. Press the preprogrammed Emergency button.
A tone sounds, the LED blinks red momentarily,
and the radio displays EMERGENCY. For
trunking system, the radio also sounds a high-
pitched tone that indicates the alarm is received
by the central controller of the trunked system. A
dispatcher acknowledgement (four high-pitched
tones) follows, accompanied by an Ack received
display.
2. Hold the microphone vertically 1 to 2 inches (2.0
to 2.5 cm) from your mouth.
3. Press and hold the PTT button. Speak clearly into
the microphone.
4. Release the PTT button to end transmission and
wait for a response from the dispatcher.
5. To exit Emergency Call, press and hold the
preprogrammed Emergency button for about a
second.
Turning off the radio also cancels the emergency
state.
