Why does my Newall C80 display work, but give erratic readings?
    • D
      Donald LoweJul 27, 2025
Erratic readings on your Newall Measuring Instruments display can be caused by a poor earth (ground) connection. Ensure that both the C80 and the machine it's installed on have proper earth (ground) connections. There may also be a problem with the encoder.

    Wesley MorrisAug 1, 2025
What to do if the display is blank on my Newall C80 Measuring Instruments?
    • K
      Kyle ValenciaAug 1, 2025
If the display on your Newall C80 Measuring Instruments is blank: * It may be in Sleep Mode, press the button. * Check that the power supply is correctly connected to a working mains outlet. * Ensure the power supply cables are not damaged. * Verify the power supply voltage is 15-24Vdc ±10%. * Disconnect all encoder cables, as a defective encoder can prevent the C80 from working.

Why does my Newall C80 display work, but reset from time to time?
    • T
      Tanya DavisAug 11, 2025
If your Newall Measuring Instruments display resets from time to time without any keys being pressed, it suggests either that the supply voltage is too low, or that the power supply or mains supply has an intermittent fault. Check that the power supply voltage is 15-24Vdc ±10%. Also, check that all connections are sound.

What to do if my Newall C80 unit will not respond to any key presses?
    • N
      nkirbyAug 16, 2025
If your Newall C80 Measuring Instruments unit will not respond to any key presses, disconnect it from its power supply, wait 15 seconds, and then reconnect it.

What to do if or appears in the display of my Newall C80?
    • D
      Derek HarrisAug 21, 2025
If or appears in the display of your Newall Measuring Instruments, it indicates that the unit is not receiving a proper signal from the encoder. Check that the encoder connections are sound and that there is no damage to the connectors or to the encoder. Try switching the C80 off and back on again. You can also swap the encoder to another axis to confirm whether the encoder or the C80 is at fault.

What to do if my Newall C80 Measuring Instruments readings are incorrect?
    • L
      Laura MathewsNov 5, 2025
If the readings on your Newall Measuring Instruments are incorrect, consider the following: 1. Check the Encoder Type to ensure correct selection. 2. Verify the Radius / Diameter setting; the Diameter setting will cause the axis to read double. 3. Examine Error Compensation factors. 4. If using Segmented Error Compensation, verify the datum position. 5. Swap the encoder to another axis to confirm whether the encoder or the C80 is at fault. 6. Check that there is no damage to the encoder or its cable. 7. Ensure the encoder is fixed firmly and aligned correctly, as described in the encoder manual. 8. Check that there is no binding on the scale; with the scale brackets slightly loosened, you should be able to slide the scale back and forth with minimal resistance. 9. If you have a Sp...
