7210 SAS-D CHASSIS INSTALLATION GUIDE
3HE 10087 AAAA TQZZA Edition 01 Issue: 08
2.1 Introduction
The 7210 SAS-D is a service-aware Layer 3 switch with support for QinQ Layer 2
uplinks. The switch functions as an Ethernet demarcation and backhaul unit with
support for four 10/100/1000 Base-T fixed copper ports and six 100/1000 SFP ports
with line-rate switching on all the ports.
Typical deployment of the 7210 SAS-D is for use as a customer premise unit (CPE).
The 7210 SAS-D is available in two variants.
• The 7210 SAS-D supporting a normal operating temperature range of 32º to
104ºF (0º to 40ºC) is intended for use as a CPE/demarcation unit for
delivering business services. The 7210 SAS-D is available with either an
AC or DC power supply; see Figure 1 and Figure 3.
• The 7210 SAS-D ETR supporting an extended temperature range of –40º to
149ºF (–40º to 65ºC) is targeted for applications requiring an extended
temperature range. This unit has a Stratum-3 oscillator that supports
Synchronous Ethernet (SyncE) and IEEE 1588v2. Its primary use is for
mobile back haul. The 7210 SAS-D ETR is available with three power supply
options:
− A DC unit supporting –48V DC power supply with an optional external
backup power supply; see Figure 2
− A DC unit supporting +24V DC power supply with an optional external
backup power supply
− An AC unit with an optional external backup supply; see Figure 4.
