3.1 Site Preparation
3.1.1 Selecting a Site
You can mount the 7210 SAS-D in a standard 19 in. (48.26 cm) equipment rack, on
a flat surface, or on a wall. When mounting on a flat surface, ensure that the four
rubber feet are installed on the bottom of the chassis.
The site should be a weather-protected and temperature-controlled location, and
should include the following criteria:
• Maintain the site temperature within 32º to 140ºF (0º to 40ºC) and humidity
within 5 to 95%, non-condensing.
• For 7210 SAS-D ETR, maintain the site temperature within the extended
temperature range.
• Allow at least 3 in. (7.62 cm) of space on all side of the unit to enable
servicing and proper air circulation.
• Ensure a secure environment in which only authorized and trained service
personnel are allowed to service the unit (IEC 60950 safety requirement).

3.1.2 Installation Locations
The 7210 SAS-D is intended to be installed in facilities that provide weather
protection and an extended temperature-controlled environment. The 7210 SAS-D is
not intended for installation outdoors.
The 7210 SAS-D is designed to work in an environment equivalent to a modern office
building, where protection is provided from contaminants including mold growth,
precipitation, volatile or corrosive chemicals, hygroscopic dust, insects, pests, or
vermin entering the product.
Warning: Follow the equipment rack manufacturer’s instructions for proper rack installation.
Failure to comply with the requirements and the location requirements outlined in this
section may impede proper airflow and may result in the system overheating.
