7.4.4. Sys-Ex Table
Pressing the [F3] function key, corresponding to the "EXC TABLES" field, or selecting the
field in the usual way from the "Edit Table" field, selected from the main Utility video page
(Utility Master) gives access to the "SYS-EX TABLE" page. The display will appear as
shown below:
After selection of the "TABLE N" field using key [F1] or the cursor keys, the Data Entry
devices can be used to choose one of the 32 SYS-EX tables already preset or the 16 user
tables set by the user. A field for display only, containing the name of the table, will appear
in the top right-hand corner.
After pressing the [F6] function key, the numeric keypad and the cursor keys can be used
to create a new string of data.
It is important to underline that although the MC 2000 sys-ex tables are dedicated to
management of exclusive systems, in fact they accept any MIDI command proposed in the
form of a hexadecimal code. This feature allows more expert users to create not only
exclusive systems, but also strings of other kinds, such as control change sequences,
RPN, NRPN, etc.
When key [F4] "check" is pressed the exclusive code messages created or resident in the
table are sent to the MIDI OUT port defined in the CHK PORT field (including the INT
internal port, when available).
In addition to the "check" function, the "learn" function is also enabled in this video page.
This function is accessed by pressing key [F5] and allows the MC 2000 to learn the
exclusive code of an external device connected to one of the MIDI IN ports, or to learn the
codes of two different devices connected to the MIDI IN 1 input port, when this is set as a
system port (see point 7.2.2).
The instrument accepts any input datum at the MIDI ports, but it is important only to send
exclusive system codes when using the "learn" function. When key [F5] is pressed, the
following message will appear in the centre of the page.
