5.4.4 File Import from the OIF.Files directory.
ImageJ can import each channel of 16-bit TIFFS as a separate stack from the ‘Image>Import>Image
Sequence...’ command. This is described on the DMC website.
5.5 File Transfer.
DO NOT PLUG ANY EXTERNAL STORAGE DEVICE INTO THE FV-1000 COMPUTER! This
includes flash drives as well as hard drives. Such devices are serious sources of computer viruses.
The computer for this confocal is connected by 1000baseT ethernet to the Mac Pro sitting in front of the
window. The confocal is not connected to the building network and its USB ports are disconnected.
Files are saved to the internal hard drive on the confocal and then transferred to the Fluoview server.
Files are stored on a volume named “FV-1000 Files” on the Mac Pro server named “Fluoview”.
5.5.1 File transfer to Mac Pro ‘Fluoview’, confocal file server.
1. Connect to the server: double-click on “Shortcut to ‘(10.0.0.2)’ Z:” icon on the confocal desktop;
2. Select the directory for your laboratory and appropriate sub-directory;
3. Open your confocal account: double-click on the “User Files” shortcut on the confocal desktop;
4. Navigate to your user account and the ‘Files’ directory located in Drive D;
5. Drag your confocal files from the User files directory to your directory in the Mac Pro;
6. Delete your old files from the confocal user directory when transfer is complete.
Full path to confocal user files:
D:\\FV10-ASW\Users\<laboratory name>\Image\
5.5.2 Saving files directly to Mac Pro ‘Fluoview’.
1. Acquire a file with the confocal;
2. Save the file;
3. At the save dialog window, navigate to “Z: 'FV-1000 Files (10.0.0.2)’”;
4. Navigate to the desired directory;
5. Save file.
6. All further image files will be saved directly to the Mac Pro server.
5.5.3 USB and Firewire Ports on the Mac Pro.
Ports on the front of the Mac Pro and rear of its monitor may be used for memory sticks and
portable personal hard drives.
Windows users: Do not remove portable devices without EJECTING them first! Click on your
device to highlight it then File Menu>Eject [device name] or right click on the device.
An eSATA port is located on the back of the computer for high speed external hard drives.
