NT20S and NT30/620 Compatible Modes
This section describes the NT20S (for the NT21) and NT30/620 (for the NT31/NT31C and NT631/NT631C) com-
patible modes in detail.
NT20S Compatible Mode (for the NT21)
The NT20S compatible mode is a function that allows screen data and user programs from NT20S to be easily
reused in an NT21. Using NT20S compatible mode reduces the differences between the earlier and most recent
versions and makes it easy to achieve compatibility.
The NT20S compatible mode has the following features:
• Changes the word configuration of the PT’s PT status control area and PT status notify area to the match the
word configuration of the earlier PTs. This change allows the new PTs to execute user programs from the earlier
PTs without any editing.
• When using the Support Tool to convert screen data for an NT21, the default setting is NT20S compatible mode
(the setting can be changed in the Support Tool’s PT environment settings). The default setting converts screen
data with the highest level of compatibility.
• Even though an NT21 PT is operating in NT20S compatible mode, it still retains all of its new functions. The
enhanced functions can be applied to screen data converted from the NT20S.
Functional Changes when Using NT20S Compatible Mode
This section describes the changes in PT functions resulting from the NT20S compatible mode.
Reference: Except for the differences described below, the NT21 retains all of its new
functions.
The NT20S compatible mode is used by default when screen data from an ear-
lier PT is converted for use in an NT21. If you do not want to use NT20S com-
patible mode, remove the check mark in the Support Tool’s menu [PT Configu-
ration]–[PT Type]–[NT20/30/620 Compatible Mode].
