WEP Encryption
• WEP Encryption (Wired Equivalent Privacy) offers wireless data security. The
default WEP Encryption setting is “on”.
Key Format
• There are four key formats. The default Key Format is 64-bit hexadecimal:
1. 64-bit hexadecimal
2. 128-bit hexadecimal
3. 64-bit ASCII
4. 128-bit ASCII
WEP Key
• The default 64-bits hexadecimal WEP Key uses the last 10 hexadecimal digit MAC
address of the cable modem. The modem’s MAC address can be found on the
underside of the Wireless Cable Modem.
1. 64-bit hexadecimal WEP Key needs 10 hexadecimal digits (0,…9,a,b,c,d,e,f).
2. 128-bit hexadecimal WEP Key needs 26 hexadecimal digits (0,…9,a,b,c,d,e,f).
3. 64-bit ASCII WEP Key needs 5 characters.
4. 128-bit ASCII WEP Key needs 13 characters
Access Permission
• Access permission is set to “Allow everyone access” by default.
• If Access Permission is set to “only allow access if on this list”, only CPEs with
matching MAC address from the list is allowed to access the Wireless Cable Modem.
Existing Station
• When Access Permission is set for “only allow access on the list”, only CPEs with
matching MAC addresses from the list are allowed to access.
• Selecting the MAC address from the list and clicking “Delete” will remove the MAC
address from the list.
New Stations
• New CPEs will be detected automatically and the MAC address of the CPE will be
added in the New Stations list.
• Selecting the MAC address from the list and clicking “Add” will add the MAC
address in the “Existing Stations”.
Submit
• Any configuration changes must be followed by “Submit” before changes will occur.
Cancel
• Any configuration changes will be restored.
