There is a lot of image lag when playing
video.
¾ Set “HD optimizer” in the Picture menu to “Off”. (> 73)
¾ Set “Audio Delay”. (> 79)
The images from this unit do not appear on
the TV.
The picture is distorted during play, or video
will not play correctly.
¾ Check the connection and the TV’s input settings.
¾ The unit’s “TV System” setting differs from the TV system
used by the disc now playing. While stopped, keep
pressing [∫] (STOP) and [< OPEN/CLOSE] on the main
unit for 5 or more seconds. The system switches from
PAL to NTSC or vice versa. (> 80)
¾ Picture may not be seen when more than 4 devices are
connected with HDMI cables.
Reduce the number of connected devices.
¾ The picture may be distorted or a black screen may
appear between scenes recorded with different aspect
ratios.
¾ DVD-R DL and +R DL discs have two writable layers on
one side. Video and audio may momentarily cut out when
the unit is switching layers.
¾ Set “Deep Colour Output” (> 81) or “Contents Type Flag”
(> 81) to “Off”.
3D video is not output correctly.
¾ Check the settings on this unit and the TV. (> 43)
¾ When a non-3D compatible amplifier/receiver is
connected between this unit and a TV, 3D video is not
output. (> 16)
¾ When the amplifier/receiver which is connected between
this unit and a TV is off, 3D video is not output. (> 16)
¾ Discs that have recorded titles with Side by side
(2 screen structure) and that can be enjoyed in 3D are
played back in accordance with the settings of the TV.
¾ When “HDMI Audio Output” is set to “Off”, 3D video may
not be output correctly. (> 81)
TV reception is not displayed.
¾ Broadcast signals are output from this unit’s RF OUT
terminal. Select “On” in “RF OUT ( Aerial Signal )”.

No sound.
Distorted sound.
¾ Check the connections or amplifier’s settings. (> 12, 16)
¾ Press [AUDIO] to select the audio. (> 25, 42)
¾ To output audio from a device connected with an HDMI
cable, set “HDMI Audio Output” to “On”. (> 81)
Cannot switch audio.
¾ You cannot switch the audio if “Digital Audio Output” is
set to “Bitstream” (> 79)
The remote control doesn’t work.
¾ The remote control and main unit are using different
codes. Change the code on the remote control.
¾ Software (firmware) is updating when “UPD /” is
displaying on the unit’s display. Wait until the update is
completed. (> 86)
¾ The HOLD function is activated. (> 18)
The unit is on but cannot be operated.
¾ Drive has not been selected properly.
Cannot tune channels.
¾ Check the connections.
“Download from TV” function does not work.
¾ You must connect to a VIERA Link (HDAVI Control 3 or
later) compatible TV with a HDMI cable to download
channel presets. (> 12)
Startup is slow.
¾ Startup takes time in the following situations:
– A disc is inserted.
– The clock is not set.
– Immediately after a power failure or the AC mains lead
is connected.
– When the unit is connected with an HDMI cable.
– When the BD-J (> 107) application is executing.
– When the “Power Save in Standby” is activated. (> 83)
