Addressing the two boards
Figure 9-36 Ambilight board addressing
The Left and Right Ambi Light boards are the same on
hardware level, but the boards are able to work on different I
2
C
addresses: 6Ah for the left board and 6Ch for the right board.
The pre-programmed address depends on the value of the
RXD pin (H or L).
The first AL board is connected to the SSB by a four -wire
cable: I
2
C, ground, and one extra wire. The extra wire of this
cable is connected to ground on the SSB, in this way the first
board will be selected.
From the first board to the second board a three-wire cable is
used: I
2
C and ground. The extra connection doesn’t exist on
the second board, so the board will be identified as “AL 2”.
Pin 4 of connector 1M49 is connected to RXD line of the
microprocessor. This connection is connected to ground on the
SSB. The AL board, is programmed in such a way that it can
change his address, depending of the value at the RXD input
pin at start-up.
