(1,000 ml/min). The GMS 150 can be used as a stand-alone instrument with other applications or as an additional and
optional component of the Photobioreactor FMT150.
The GMS 150 can be controlled also by PBR software. Detail description of the High-precision Gas Mixing system installation
and operation can be found in the manual provided together with the GAS Mixing (GM) System and in the PBR Software
Manual.
5.8.1 INSTALLATION
Follow the instructions below to connect the Gas Mixing System with the PBR FMT150:
• Use Parker Prestolok tubing (Ø 6 mm) for gas inputs and gas output.
• Connect the GM System with the gas sources (n°1 in Fig. 39A) and set the desired composition of the gas via the
front panel display of the GMS 150 or PBR software.
• Connect the output GM system tubing (n°2 in Fig. 39A) with the bubble interruption valve (n°3 in Fig. 39A). Bubble
interruption valve is further connected to PBR FMT150 as shown and described in Fig. 19.
• Insert a hydrophobic filter between the bubble interruption valve and humidifier. The filter is not part of the
delivery. Use for example a syringe hydrophobic filter with PTFE membrane with pore size of 20 µm.
• Level of gas input tubing into the humidifier should be at least 15 cm higher than level of gas output tubing from
the humidifier. See Fig. 39C. This configuration will prevent a flooding of the gas mixing system caused by water
recoil when sparging is stopped.
• When the GM System is connected to the PBR FMT150 the vessel lid assembly scheme (Fig. 39B) is same as for
standard air installation as described on page 26.
