Important note: the pumps connected to the FMT150 must have unique IDs, otherwise the behavior
of pumps is unpredictable.
Turbidostat mode – the Photobioreactor optical sensing unit monitors the optical density (OD680, OD720/OD735) of the
culture. The Peristaltic Pump adds fresh medium to maintain configured OD levels according to protocol defined in PBR
software.
Chemostat mode – the pH value of the cultivation media can be continuously adjusted as either acid or base is added to
the cultivation vessel to keep the pH level at given value according to protocol defined in PBR software.
Standalone mode – controlled manually via the peristaltic pump control display or by PBR software. For manual control
please refer to the Peristaltic Pump operation manual.
The pump allows variable flow-rate from 0.2 to 50 ml/min and this flow rate is set manually on the pump control display
or via PBR software for each pump.

The Peristaltic Pump consists of two main parts – the Peristaltic Pump PP600 and the small stabilized power supply. Detail
description of the pump can be found in the manual provided together with the peristaltic pump.
5.10.1 INSTALLATION
Follow the instructions below to install and operate the peristaltic pump:
• First install the tubing connection with the PBR FMT150.
• Attach provided short tube with Male Luer Lock Fittings (n°1 in Tab. 4) to the Peristaltic Pump PP600. Insert one
end of the tube in the holder and wind the tube as shown in the figure below (Fig. 47A,B). Insert the other end of
the tube into the holder (Fig. 47B). Ensure that the end of the tubing is pushed all the way to the end of the luer
lock fitting. If this is not done, small air leak may occur resulting in the pump not working properly.
