11. Torque the cam chain retainer plate
q
screw to
specification.
TORQUE
Cam Chain Retainer Screw:
7 ft-lbs (10 Nm)
12. Turn the assembled crankcase over and support the
connecting rod in an upright position.
13. Install new crankcase studs into crankcase using a
commercially available stud installation tool.
NOTE
Stud Thread Pitch: M8 x 1.25
TORQUE
Cylinder Head Studs:
13 ft-lbs (17 Nm) (Replacement required)
14. Proceed with installing the top-end of the engine.
BALANCE SHAFT INSTALLATION / TIMING
1. Position balancer shaft

in the crankcase.
2. Install balance shaft bearing retainer
w
and torque
fasteners
e
to specification.
TORQUE
Balance Shaft Retainer Fasteners:
7 ft-lbs (10 Nm)
3. Align keyway and install balancer shaft gear on the
balancer shaft.
4. Rotate crankshaft to align the timing marks

as
shown below.
