Preparation for Use and Operation Hot-Swap HDD Modules
5.4 Hot-Swap HDD Modules
Up to three U160-SCSI hard disk drives can be installed in the PRIMERGY
RX200 server.
The hard disk drives are built on a carrier which allows defective drives to be
replaced (hot-swap) or new drives to be added during operation. The hard disk
drive and the carrier constitute the hard disk drive module (HDD module).
The hot-swap function can only be performed if the RAID is configured appro-
priately.
A hard disk drive may only be replaced if it is inactive (see description of the
LEDs under “Hard disk drive control indicators” on page 45).
The hot swap procedure increases the availability of the system operation and
guarantees a high degree of data integrity and fail-safe performance.
4 ID indicator (blue)
Lights blue when the system has been selected by pressing the ID
button. To deactivate, press the button again.
The ID indicator on the front also lights up at the same time. The two ID
indicators are synchronized.
The ID indicator can also be activated via ServerView and its status
reported to ServerView.
