Generallocationrequirements
Whenselectingalocationfortheunititisimportanttoconsideranumberoffactors.
To ensureoptimumperformance,itisrecommendedthatthedisplayistemporarilypoweredupand
tested,atthechosenlocation,priortoinstallation.
Ventilationrequirements
Toprovideadequateairflowaroundtheproductensurethatitisadequatelyseparatedfromother
equipmentorsourcesofheat.
Mountingsurfacerequirements
Whenselectingamountingsurfaceensure:
•theproductwillbeadequatelysupportedonasecure,flatsurface.DoNOTmountunitsorcut
holesinplaceswhichmaydamagethestructureofthevessel.
•sufficientspaceisavailablearoundtheproduct.
•thereisnothingbehindthemountingsurfacethatmaybedamagedwhendrilling.
Cableroutingrequirements
Ensureyouhaveidentifiedtheroutethatallrequiredcableswilltakeandthatsufficientspaceis
availabletoallowconnectionofcables:
•Unlessotherwisestated,aminimumcablebendradiusof100mm(3.94in)isrequired.
•Wherenecessary,cablesupportsshouldbeusedtopreventstressonconnectors.
Electricalinterference
Selectalocationthatisfarenoughawayfromequipmentthatmaycauseinterference,suchas
motors,generatorsandradiotransmitters/receivers.
Compasssafedistance
Topreventpotentialinterferencewiththevessel'smagneticcompasses,ensureanadequate
distanceismaintainedfromtheproduct.
Whenchoosingasuitablelocationfortheproductyoushouldaimtomaintainthemaximumpossible
distancefromanycompasses.Typicallythisdistanceshouldbeatleast1m(3.3ft)inalldirections.
Howeverforsomesmallervesselsitmaynotbepossibletolocatetheproductthisfarawayfroma
compass.Inthissituation,whenchoosingtheinstallationlocationforyourproduct,ensurethatthe
compassisnotaffectedbytheproductwhenitisinapoweredstate.
Viewingangleconsiderations
Displaycontrastandcolorareeffectedbytheanglethedisplayisviewedfrom.,Ifyouintendto
surfacemountthedisplay,itisrecommendedthatyoutemporarilypowerupthedisplayatthe
desiredlocationbeforeinstallation.
