Timing belt: Removal - Refitting

a Check through the lower timing cover window that
the adjustable index (63) is opposite the notch (64) ,
if this is not the case:
-loosen the timing tensioning roller nut by up to one
turn while holding the eccentric with a 6 mm Allen
key,
-gradually move the adjustable index marker (63)
opposite the mark (64) turning the eccentric cam
(65) clockwise.
a Tighten to torque the timing tensioning roller nut
(27 N.m).
4 - Checking the timing
a Check that the tensioning roller pointers are correct-
ly positioned before checking the timing adjustment.
a Screw the TDC setting pin (Mot. 1489) into the cylin-
der block.
a Move the crankshaft slowly and smoothly and rest it
on the TDC setting pin.
a Fit (without forcing) the camshaft setting tool (Mot.
1496) (the camshaft grooves must be horizontal and
offset towards the bottom).
a Remove:
- the timing tool (Mot. 1496) fitted with the (Mot.
1750),
- the TDC setting pin (Mot. 1489).

If the tool cannot be engaged, readjust the timing
and the tension.
