Ricoh Ri 3000 - 2: Maintenance Schedule

The Ri 3000 and Ri 6000uses a Closed-Loop Ink Delivery system with sealed ink cartridges which when
properly maintained prevents inks’ exposure to air. However, the system operator still must shake the
ink cartridges daily, and make the inks move through the ink tubes daily. Ri 3000 and Ri 6000 Auto
circulation function reduces the manual maintenance tasks, but the operator needs to perform frequent
nozzle checks and also provide the necessary additional manual maintenance.
2: Maintenance Schedule
DAILY MAINTENANCE:
Using the Ri 3000 or Ri 6000 Control Panel, print a Nozzle Check daily (see chapter 2: section 7). Perform
Print Head cleans as needed. Usually one or two Print Head Cleans will clear the nozzles and achieve a
good Nozzle Check Pattern. Generally each of the ink channels must have 90% or better Nozzle Check
Patterns to achieve acceptable print quality.
 Wipe the wiper blade clean at the beginning of the day. See section 9.3 Required Maintenance
 Remove the 2 white ink cartridges and shake them a few times gently to keep the pigment in
solution. Replace them in the same ink bays.
 If you do not use white ink often or use the white ink heavily, it may be necessary to do the
weekly maintenance on a daily basis or more frequently than once or twice a week.
WEEKLY MAINTENANCE:
 Check the Wiper Blade, Maintenance Station and Print Head Nozzle Plate for ink residue and
clean them as needed with Cleaning Solution. (You may need to clean these areas more than
once or twice a week depending on your usage pattern.) See Section 9.3. Required Maintenance.
 Check the left Drip Absorber for excessive buildup or saturation and replace pads or clean as
necessary.
BI-WEEKLY MAINTENANCE:
 Check the right Drip Absorber for excessive buildup or saturation and replace pads or clean as
necessary
MONTHLY MAINTENANCE:
 Check the Wiper Blade for wear and replace if needed.
 Check the Wiper Holder build up and clean if necessary.
 Check the Waste Ink Tank and drain as needed.
 Check the fan filters and replace if entire pad becomes purple
