SECTION 2
IDENTIFICATION AND FUNCTION OF PARTS
2.0 SCOPE
This section contains illustrations of the ScanMasterII sub-assemblies, identifies
their parts, and briefly explains their function.
A good understanding of the function of each assembly will help ensure that the
machine is operated efficiently.
2.1 LOWER POWER ENCLOSURE (See Figure 2-1)
The Lower Power Enclosure contains the following parts.
2.1.1 COOLING FANS
Fans are located at each side of the Lower Power Enclosure.
The fans move air through the power enclosure and force it into the left-hand
hollow frame member. The air leaves the hollow wall and passes through the viewer
and electronics cabinet to the right-hand hollow frame. The air then returns to the
lower power enclosure. This circulation of air cools the viewer and electronics and
dissipates the heat through the large area of the hollow frame members.
2.1.2 POWER TRANSFORMER
The power transformer provides power for the two 60 volt DC ejector supplies.
2.1.3 LOWER POWER SUPPLY
The lower power supply contains the following:
A. Main power circuit breaker.
B. Slide heater circuit breaker.
C. Fuses for electronics, lamps and ejectors.
D. Two 60 volt DC ejector supplies.
2.1.4 LAMP BALLASTS
The lamp ballasts are regulated power supplies, which provide the high frequency
power for the fluorescent lamps.
A photocell located behind each lower lamp in the viewer (See Figures 1-4 and 1-5)
monitors the light output. The ballast regulates the lamp current to keep the light
level constant.
