2.8 FRAME GRAB SCREEN (See Figure 2-13)
In order to evaluate the flow of product, an actual image as seen by the cameras is
displayed on the FRAME GRAB SCREEN. Successive scan lines of video from both the
front and rear cameras of the selected chute are accumulated simultaneously and
then displayed. Since the video is balanced to the good product, the image will
show the grains that are much lighter or darker than the good product most clearly.
In order to evaluate the video level of each pixel across a scan line, an oscilloscope
display is provided. The scroll bar between the two frame grabs is used to select
the line to be displayed on the scope.
To display a frame grab, touch the GRAB button. Select another chute by touching
the arrows on the CHUTE button. To display a frame grab for the new chute, touch
the GRAB button again.
To save the frame displayed to a floppy disk, place a formatted 3.5 inch disk in the
drive inside the cabinet and touch the SAVE TO DISK button. The data will be saved
in a file named frame_1.dat. To save another frame grab, select another chute (if
desired) and touch GRAB to display the new frame grab. Touch SAVE TO DISK and
the data will be saved as frame_2.dat. A formatted high-density disk should hold up
to eight .dat files. Note that the system names successive files frame_3.dat...4, 5, 6,
7, 8, 9, and 0. Then next will return to frame_1.dat. Each time that the program is
restarted, the file name is reset to frame_1.dat. Any previous saved files must be
renamed or they may be overwritten without a warning message.
2.9 EJECTOR RATE NORMALIZATION SCREEN (See Figure 2-14)
Circuitry on the Ejector Interface PCB monitors the number of Dark Trips occurring
on each view of each channel. When the system is in one of the active modes, the
trip count of each view of each slave channel is compared to the trip count of its
master channel. If the trip count for a view/channel is low, the sensitivity of that
view/channel is increased slightly. If it is high, the sensitivity is lowered slightly.
This process continuously moves the removal rate for all channels closer to a
uniform level.
NOTE:
The Ejector Rate Normalization system is active only on the primary sort
chutes. If the Primary/Resort switches at the rear of the Amplifier PCB are in the
Resort position, Ejector Rate Normalization is not active on that chute.
The MODE menu is used to select the rate normalization method. In the “OFF”
mode, no adjustment is made to the trip sensitivities. In the “CHUTE” mode, the
front view of channel 5 of each chute is the master channel for that chute. The trip
sensitivities of the front view of each of channels 1-4 and 6-10 of that chute, and (in
a two view sorter) the rear view of each of channels 1-10 of that chute, are adjusted
to drive the firing rate for each view/channel of that chute to equal that chute’s
master channel. In the “FEEDER” mode, the front view of channel 15 is the master
channel. The trip sensitivities of the front view of each of channels 1-14 and 16-30,
and (in a two view sorter) the rear view of each of channels 1-30, are adjusted to
drive the firing rate for each view/channel to equal the master channel. Similarly,
the front view of channel 35 is the master for channels 31-60, and the front view of
channel 65 is the master for channels 61-80.
