SECTION 4
MAINTENANCE
4.0 SCOPE
This section describes preventive maintenance procedures that should be carried
out on a periodic basis in order to keep the ScanMasterII in peak operating
condition.
How often these procedures should be performed depends on:
A How many shifts per day the machine is operated.
B. The production rate.
C. The defect level of the product being sorted.
D. Whether or not dust extraction is used.
E. Condition of the compressed air delivered to the machine.
F. Room temperature.
G. Other factors.
The important features of a good preventive maintenance program are listed below:
A Routine machine inspection.
B. Regular cleaning of machine.
C. Replacement of parts before breakdown occurs or operating efficiency is
seriously impaired.
D. Adequate stocks of replacement parts.
E. Sufficient time to perform maintenance work.
F. Accurate machine service history records.
4.1 CHECKING AND CLEANING THE FEEDER TRAY
Check the feeder trays for any adhesion of product fines. An accumulation of fines
will slow the production rate. Wipe off any fines coating with a soft cloth, being
careful not to scratch the feeder trays.
For some products, in colder conditions the feeder pan heaters should be used to
help prevent product build-up.
