2.5.2.6 FEEDER CONTROL
The ScanMasterII feeders can be controlled by remote inputs from a PLC. The
feeder can be started and stopped and/or
the rate of product feed can be set from
remote inputs to the System Interface PCB (See Section 2.24.2). The FEEDER
CONTROL buttons select whether the feeders will respond to inputs from the MAIN
SCREEN or from the remote inputs. Set each button to LOCAL for control from the
TOUCH SCREEN or REMOTE for control from the PLC.
If no PLC inputs are present, selecting REMOTE for either feeder control function will
prevent the feeder from running. If the feeder is under remote control, it may be
necessary to return it to local control during clean-up or service. Be sure to return
the buttons to the correct settings when the clean-up or service is complete.
2.5.3 SETUP3 SCREEN (See Figure 2-9)
The SETUP3 SCREEN allows the user to save the current settings as a new preset, to
replace an existing set of conditions with the current settings in an existing preset,
or to recall a previously saved set of conditions and load them as the current
settings.
To save the current settings as a new preset, use the up/down arrows to scroll the
list to a new position and touch the preset name space. The Keypad Window (Figure
2-4) will appear. Type in the new name and touch OK. The SETUP3 SCREEN will
return. Touch SAVE and acknowledge the warning to save the settings.
To replace an existing set of conditions with the current settings in an existing
preset, use the up/down arrows to scroll the list to the preset that is to be updated.
Touch SAVE and acknowledge the warning to replace the settings in that preset with
the current settings.
To recall a previously saved set of conditions and load them as the current settings,
use the up/down arrows to scroll the list to the preset that is to be recalled. Touch
RECALL and acknowledge the warning to replace the current settings with the
settings previously saved in that preset.
The MODBUS button is used on systems that will communicate data to a remote
computer system via the System Interface PCB (See Section 2.24.1) or to DataScan. It
has no function on systems that are not connected to a remote computer system.
The system defaults to the MODBUS feature. The user may toggle to DataScan mode
using the TOGGLE TO DATASCAN button (See Figure 2-9A).
2.6 BACKGROUND ADJUSTMENT SCREEN (See Figure 2-10)
The backgrounds are adjusted so that the signals for average good product appear
equally above and below the background level. After all other adjustments have
been made, turn the ScanMasterII on and convey product through the machine at a
slow rate. Observe the product signals on the oscilloscope display. They should
look similar to the illustration in Figure 2-11. Darker product signals will go well
below the background level. Lighter products will go well above the background
level. If the oscilloscope display shows that the product is not balanced on the
background, slowly adjust the background position until the signals are correct.
Remember that you must move the background slowly and give the scope a few
